Tariff Policy

Subject: Formulating of tariff policy – regarding.

As required under the objectives laid down by the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998, a Group has been constituted to prepare a Concept Paper on tariff policy for power generated by the Central Public Sector Undertakings.

The Group is headed by Special Secretary (Power). The other members are:

(i) Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power

(ii) Joint Secretary (R&R), Ministry of Power

(iii) Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Power

(iv) Joint Secretary (PP&EA), Ministry of Power

(v) Joint Secretary (IPC), Ministry of Power

(vi) Member (EC), Central Electricity Authority

(vii) Chairman – cum-Managing Director, NTPC

(viii) Chairman – cum – Managing Director, PTC

(ix) Director (Fin.), NHPC

(x) Director (Fin.), PGCIL

(xi) President & COO, SBI Capital Markets Ltd.

(xii) Director (Fin.), Ministry of Power – Secretary – cum- Convenor

 

In making the recommendations, the Group shall be guided by the following principles:-

(a) The need to provide affordable power to consumers and ensuring fair returns to generators, transmitters and distributors of power.

(b) Facilitate development of markets and market instruments in the power sector.

<![endif]>Members of the public are invited to send suggestions on the formulation of tariff policy for power generated by the CPSUs keeping in view the broad framework as mentioned above.
